Starting on the 20th of March, Yutaka will be touring in Europe again!!
The first half (3/20-3/30) of the trip is with great jazz singer Elizabeth Lohninger and her quartet. The group will travel all over Czech Republic to perform her beautiful original songs and arrangements!
The second half (4/1-4/17) is with the Phishbacher New York Electric Trio. With the newly recorded and released CD, the band will travel Czech Republic, Austria and Germany to electrify the audience!

Yutaka Uchida Quartet will be back at Tagine, with rare electric format!

We'll have Sebastian Noelle on guitar, George Dulin on keyboards and Trifon Dimitrov on electric bass, to recreate the sound you've heard on some tracks from my CD "Living Together."

Tagine is a great hang with awesome Moroccan food and Hukka pipe - be sure to join us on this special occasion!!

Hi everyone,

Just got back from Montreal - I played at Montreal Jazz Festival with Nobuki Takamen Group on July 3rd. It was a very special experience and I'm really grateful that I was able to be a part of such a prestigious jazz festival!

The band welcomed back Hitoshi Kanda, the pianist; who - unfortunately for us - went back to Japan in spring; who joined us again for this special occasion. What a treat - what a great reunion it was!

I've got some nice gigs coming up, but I'd like to mention two very special shows at this point.

1. Yutaka Uchida Quartet at Cleopatra's Needle!
The quartet is back in Cleo's on Saturday, July 11th, 8PM! We'll play three sets of my original music, old and new, for FREE!
Enjoy a night of great music, tasty Mediterranean cuisine and special martinis!

2. Nobuki Takamen Group at Iridium Jazz Club!
Hitoshi Kanda will join us once again and the quartet will hit the world famous Iridium Jazz Club on Wednesday, July 15th, 7PM!
Now here's the thing: Nobuki has to achieve some obligatory advance ticket ($25) sales and you can help out! If you decide to come to Iridium show, please contact Nobuki via email: info@nobukitakamen.com and purchase a ticket directly from him. This way you can help him, and also save yourself some money because it'll be tax free.
If you personally know me, you can also pay me the money and your name will be on the list.

I seriously recommend both shows to any music lovers!

Hi everyone,

How's everything?
Hope none of these allergies or H1N1 stories are slowing you down!

I'm off to Europe on May 16 for a three-week-long tour with wonderful electric jazz funk trio Phishbacher!
Naturally I'm very excited, but it also means no Yutaka for you guys for a while... "What!? NOooooooooo!!!"

I know, I know... that's why I'm throwing one last show right before I leave!
And I even got a very special lineup for this one - the original recording member of my electric quartet and beautifully lyrical pianist Eishin Nose, and my touring buddy and amazing bassist Nathan Peck are joining us, along with our regular great saxophonist Sean Nowell.

It's going to be an awesome gig, so please come out, show your support and wish me and Nathan a great tour!

Hi everyone,

Happy New Year!!
I'd like to thank everyone for supporting me and my music last year, and wish you all a healthy and prosperous 2009!

Many fun gigs are lined up in January - WaFoo , Matt Panayides Quartet, Nobuki Takamen Group and Walter Fischbacher trio... they are all wonderful and worth checking out!

My group, Yutaka Uchida Quartet, will be playing again at Cleopatra's Needle with some new materials on Friday, February 27th. This one is DEFINITELY worth checking out and important, so mark your calendar now!!

Hi everyone,
The tour with Nobuki was successfully finished and I'm now back in New York! Man, what a wonderful tour it was... I'll upload some photos soon, so be sure to come back often!

I'm so jet-lagged now, but several important projects, including recording sessions with George Dulin and Akihiro Yamamoto, are coming up soon, so I've been pretty busy preparing for them!

I'm going on tour in Japan with guitarist Nobuki Takamen later this month!

He's releasing his second CD from What's New label in Japan and we're promoting it.

If you know some people in Japan, please let them know! All the dates are on "Gigs" page.

In contrast to the insanely busy last week, this week has been relatively slow. So I've been checking out some live music (Maraca at SOB was great), books, movies and stuff. You can keep outputting only for so long - before you're emptied out, you'd need some input, you know. I feel like I'm ready to write a few tunes now!

As you can see on the "Calender" page, Yutaka Uchida Quartet will be playing at Tagine, a cool Moroccan joint in the Theater District in Midtown Manhattan, TOMORROW!!

We'll play many of my originals with a very strong lineup. It'll be a special night. Don't miss out!

As you can see, this website has gotten a whole new look! Pretty neat, huh?

The tracks from the CD "Living Together" are finally up on the "music" page, so please enjoy - and if you like them enough, don't hesitate to visit the "buy" page and get a copy!
